01 · Context
Why we're hiring
As part of the development of its aquaculture production activities, Green Farms is recruiting an Aquaculture Technician to take charge of the technical, organizational and operational management of its fish farm. The technician will help improve production performance, ensure good aquaculture practices are followed, and support the profitability of the operation.
Objective of the Role
Recruit a qualified technician able to run the day-to-day management of the
farm, plan production activities, and meet the operation's technical,
economic and environmental targets.
02 · Responsibilities
What you'll do
- Manage the farm's daily activities.
- Plan, organize and supervise production operations.
- Monitor tilapia and catfish (Clarias) at every production stage.
- Check water quality parameters and propose corrective action.
- Supervise stocking, feeding, biometry and harvest.
- Enforce stocking densities and technical protocols.
- Apply biosecurity measures and monitor fish health.
- Organize the upkeep of ponds, tanks, cages and equipment.
- Train and oversee production workers.
- Draw up work plans and follow through on them.
- Keep production records current (feed, growth, mortality, treatments, harvests).
- Maintain the farm's administrative and technical registers.
- Contribute to technical reports and production summaries.
- Track stock levels of feed, inputs, materials and equipment.
- Help monitor operating expenses and production-related accounts.
- Uphold safety, hygiene and environmental protection rules.
03 · Candidate Profile
Who we're looking for
- Degree in aquaculture, fisheries science, animal production, agriculture, or an equivalent qualification (BTS, professional Bachelor's, engineering degree, or equivalent).
- At least 3 years' experience managing an aquaculture or fish farm.
- Solid knowledge of modern tilapia and catfish farming techniques.
- Proficient in technical fish monitoring from fry stage through to harvest.
- Able to plan production activities and track zootechnical performance.
- Skilled in feeding techniques, biometry, stocking density management and water quality control.
- Knowledge of health management and biosecurity on aquaculture operations.

- Artificial reproduction of catfish (Clarias gariepinus).
- Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) reproduction techniques.
- Hatchery management and fry production experience.
- Experience manufacturing fish feed.
- Strong team leadership ability.
- Experience organizing work in rural settings.
- Comfortable working under pressure and to deadlines.
- Skilled at maintaining production technical records.
- Able to track stock levels and consumption.
- Basic bookkeeping and production cost management.
- Comfortable with Excel, Word and management software.

06 · Working Conditions
Where and how you'll work
You'll report to the Farm Manager, the promoter, or the Technical Director, and follow internal procedures, safety rules, biosecurity measures and environmental standards.
- Position based on-site at the aquaculture farm.
- Availability to work in a rural area.
- Regular presence on the production facilities.
- Working hours follow the farm's activity schedule.
